Current Hours

The Brandywine Battlefield Park is open for grounds-only exploration every Tuesday through Thursday from 10 am – 4 pm.

Public parking is adjacent to the picnic areas just past the visitor center.  Walking access to the site is welcome.

The visitor center is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10-4 offering exhibits, our gift shop, Highlight Tours of the museum, and an orientation film. The visitor center and historic buildings will be open on Fridays and Saturdays 10-4.  Please come and walk in the footsteps of Patriots.

Brandywine Battlefield park is 30 minutes southwest of Philadelphia and one mile east of Chadds Ford, PA on  US 1.

Directions From

From Philadelphia:
Interstate 95 south to just past Chester, exit to US 322 west.  Left at intersection with US 1.   Take US 1 south for 2.7 miles.  You will go through the intersection with US 202.  Brandywine Battlefield park is on the right at the light.

From Wilmington:
Come north on US 202 to the intersection with US 1.  Left onto US 1 south for 1.7 miles. Brandywine Battlefield park is on the right at the light.

From points west:
Come north on US 1 past Kennett Square.  After crossing the Brandywine River at Chadds Ford, Brandywine Battlefield park is another mile on US 1, at the light.

From West Chester or Valley Forge:
Come south on US 202 to the intersection with US 1. Right onto US 1 south for 1.7 miles. Brandywine Battlefield park is on the right at the light.

2019 Schedule

March, Re-opening on Sunday March 11th (Charter Day). From then, open Friday and Saturday 9 AM to 4 PM, Sunday noon to 4 PM. Closed Monday through Thursday.

April, Open Thursday through Saturday 9 AM to 4 PM, Sunday noon to 4 PM.  Closed Monday through Wednesday.

May, Open Wednesday through Saturday 9 AM to 4 PM, Sunday noon to 4 PM.  Closed Monday and Tuesday but open for Memorial Day May 28.

June through August, Open Tuesday through Saturday 9 AM to 4 PM, Sunday noon to 4 PM. Closed Monday.  Open Fourth of July.

September 11, Remembrance Ceremony 6-7 PM free.

September, Open Wednesday through Saturday 9 AM to 4 PM, Sunday noon to 4 PM. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

October, Open Thursday through Saturday 9AM to 4PM, Sunday noon to 4PM.  Closed Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday

November, Open Friday and Saturday 9 AM to 4 PM, Sunday noon to 4 PM. Closed Monday through Thursday

December until Christmas Eve, Open Friday through Saturday 9 AM to 4 PM, Sunday noon to 4 PM. Closed Monday through Thursday.

Christmas-New Years week, Open Friday through Saturday 9 AM through 4 PM.  Sunday noon to 4 PM.

Holidays, Closed Easter Sunday, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving and day after, Christmas Eve, day and day after.

Fees: The park is free to walk around and use.  There are outdoor picnic areas.  Restrooms are located in the Visitor’s Center.  No fires permitted on the grounds.  A ticket is required for the Museum, House Tour, and Film.

Visitor’s Center: Open until 4 PM each day the park is open.
